If you've never listed anything in the "Free" section of Craigslist, let me tell you it's amazing how quickly you will get responses. Within a couple of minutes I had multiple calls responding to my free computer ad. And once the items are gone, you had better delete your post off of Craigslist, if you don't want the deluge of phone calls to continue.
Sometimes I amuse myself by just reading Craiglist with no particular purpose in mind. The sections that I read most often are:
Free Stuff: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/zi
Because sometimes I'm amazed at what people want to get rid of
Items Wanted: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wa
Conversely, I'm amazed at what people are looking for, and sometimes I actually have what they need
Et cetera Jobs: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/et
The most odd things are posted here
and of course the ever-popular Best of Craiglist: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/ab
I have to say, the best Craiglist ad I've seen was one where someone was offering to trade their VW beetle for some marijuana, and they left the street address where the beetle was parked so people could come look at it. That one was removed pretty quickly. People can be really stupid sometimes.
