Craigslist is my friend

Over the past month or so, I have been going on occasional junk-purging binges, selling stuff on eBay if I think it will be worth the time and effort, or just posting it on Craigslist. The past week, I managed to get rid of two old (10 years plus old) Macs: my Power Macintosh 7200/75 and my PowerBook 180. The PowerBook went to a student who says that he just wants to use it for basic word processing, and the Power Mac went to a family of 8 children. I gave both computers away for free, so I feel pretty good about having found what seemed to be pretty deserving homes for them both. May they serve you well! Now I have regained a few more cubic feet of space in my home.

If you've never listed anything in the "Free" section of Craigslist, let me tell you it's amazing how quickly you will get responses. Within a couple of minutes I had multiple calls responding to my free computer ad. And once the items are gone, you had better delete your post off of Craigslist, if you don't want the deluge of phone calls to continue.

Sometimes I amuse myself by just reading Craiglist with no particular purpose in mind. The sections that I read most often are:

I have to say, the best Craiglist ad I've seen was one where someone was offering to trade their VW beetle for some marijuana, and they left the street address where the beetle was parked so people could come look at it. That one was removed pretty quickly. People can be really stupid sometimes.
